Gaines Frazier is originally from Virginia where he received a Bachelors degree in Environmental Science from the University of Virginia.  He continued to pursue these interests by working for the Hawaii Wildlife Fund in Maui, where he suffered a knee sprain that forced him to wear a brace during any activity.  Through yoga and movement classes, he was advised that the injury was in fact rooted in his hips. Using this information to resolve the injury sparked a powerful interest in body awareness and dynamics. Shortly after, he was introduced to an Acupuncturist who further inspired his journey. He then began a year of in depth research and education, finally deciding to pursue a career in the healing arts.

Gaines received his four year Masters degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, California.  He thrives in working with a diagnostic system analogous to the natural systems he previously studied.  Additionally, he is trained in the manual therapies of shiatsu, tuina, polarity and Swedish massage, which he incorporates as a diagnostic, as well as therapeutic, tool in his practice. He specializes in acute and chronic pain management and orthopedic issues.  He has worked with the Mental Health Care Action Network (MHCAN) treating the psychosomatic manifestation of disease, particularly stress and anxiety.  Gaines believes in creating a calm and safe environment, as deep relaxation is where true healing takes place.

Gaines has returned to his roots after seven years of practicing in the Bay Area of California and looks forward to sharing this approach to health care in Coastal Virginia.
